Honoring the Memory of Vijayalakshmi Venkatachalam

With heavy hearts, we gather to remember the cherished life of Vijayalakshmi Venkatachalam, affectionately known as Viji. A devoted wife, mother, and sister, Viji's sudden passing at the tender age of 50 has left us all in mourning. On March 31st, 2024, she tragically succumbed to complications from cardiac arrest, leaving behind her beloved husband, Saravanan, and three adoring daughters, Chitra (25 years), Aarthi (22 years), and Ramya (17 years).

In the wake of this profound loss, her family faces unforeseen financial burdens, including, enormous emergency medical care expenses in a foreign country, repatriation expenses, funeral expenses and ongoing support. This being the Easter Holiday weekend, everything taking time to get them back to USA and this adding to the additional financial burden.

The circumstances of Viji's passing are especially heartbreaking. She and her husband were en route to India to attend her brother's funeral, who had bravely battled stage 4 cancer. Tragically, the next day after her brother's passing, Viji suffered cardiac arrest during the journey, prompting an emergency landing in Canada. Despite the efforts of plane personnel and medical professionals, Viji was pronounced deceased after many hours of life support and efforts to revive her.
