Honoring the memory of Amy Edwards Boger
Donation protected
Hi everyone! I am fundraising for my friends, the Mark A. Edwards family. The fundraiser is to pay funeral expenses for Mark's sister, Amy Edwards Boger who passed away on February 5, 2016.
February 5, 2016 started out like any other day, but it ended in devastating tragedy for one family and shook the very foundation
of a small community.
Amy was a life-long resident of Oakboro, NC. The 46-year-old was a loving mother of a son, 14, and daughter, 12. She was also a devoted daughter who helped care for her father and mother as they struggled with various health issues.
Amy was beloved not only in the community in which she grew up, but to the county at-large as well. She worked locally in the banking industry her entire adult life. She was a person of strong
faith who had devotedly served in two churches in the community.
Her immediate and extended family had lived, worked, and served
in the same community for generations and Amy carried on that tradition of a strong work ethic, commitment to family, and service to the community.
On Friday, February 5, 2016, Amy went to work at the bank like so many days before. But her day had barely begun when she indicated to her co-workers that she needed to leave for a few
minutes. She told them that she would be back soon, but later that afternoon, Amy’s body was found in the basement of her parent's
home, the home where she had grown up and where she
and her daughter had been living for just over a year. Her death was a result of a gunshot wound.
As news of Amy’s death spread throughout the community, there was a collective groan of shock and disbelief that something so tragic and unthinkable could happen to someone as caring, giving, and loving as Amy. To this day, Amy’s death remains a mystery to law enforcement and her loss is still a source or tremendous
grief for her family and the community where she lived, worked,
and worshipped. In fact, the loss runs even deeper for her brother,
Mark, and his family as they grieved the loss not only of his sister,
but the death of his father just seven months prior to her,
and of his mother just seventeen days after Amy.
Unfortunately, that grief has been compounded. Because of the circumstances
surrounding her death, Mark and his family are
now responsible for paying for Amy’s funeral services. This
unforeseen and unexpected bill weighs heavy on this family.
I am are asking you to please consider honoring Amy’s life on the
5th anniversary of her death by donating to help alleviate the
burden of the cost of her funeral. All funds received will go
directly toward her funeral expenses. Your gift will truly be a blessing and
a way to honor a person who selflessly gave so much to her family and community.
