On December 4th, our family experienced an unimaginable loss with the passing of Robert “Robbie” Sweat. Robbie was a one-of-a-kind soul—gentle, creative, brilliant, and endlessly unique. His family, friends, and the many people whose lives he touched are grieving deeply, and we are coming together to honor him the way he deserved.

Robbie lived a life full of passion and curiosity. From a young age, music was his heartbeat. He was an exceptional bass guitarist who played professionally with Molly Hatchet from 1990 to 1993, a defining chapter in his life. Robbie also poured his talent into several other bands, including Fools for Faith, Mind Slip, and Good Talk Russ. No matter the genre or venue, he brought soul, energy, and authenticity to every performance. Music wasn’t just something he enjoyed—it was his expression, his passion, and the gift he shared with the world.

He also had an extraordinary love for nature and all animals, including reptiles. Robbie could identify snakes and wildlife with an expert’s eye, and he had a gift for sharing that knowledge with anyone who showed interest. His fascination with the natural world reflected his deep sense of wonder and his unique way of seeing beauty around him.

Robbie spent years working in the wireless and cellular industry, including his time with AT&T. He was known for his professionalism, his loyalty, and his ability to truly connect with people. He valued meaningful conversations, friendships, and staying true to himself.

Why We Are Asking for Help

As our family navigates this painful and unexpected loss, we are faced with final expenses related to Robbie’s passing. His closest friend, Jean-Luc Travis, is organizing this fundraiser on our behalf to help lighten that burden.

We are hoping to raise $7,500 to cover Robbie’s final arrangements, memorial needs, and the unexpected costs that come with losing someone so suddenly. Our goal is to honor Robbie with dignity, love, and peace—just as he deserved.

Robbie’s celebration of life will be Decemeber 21st at 2:00 p.m. at Hibernia Baptist Church in Fleming Island, FL.
