Honouring the Life of Patricia “Pat” Moore

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Patricia “Pat” Moore on Tuesday, August 26, 2025.

Pat was born on March 10, 1949, in Vincennes, St. David’s, Grenada. She came to Canada in the early 1970s, carrying with her the revolutionary spirit of her homeland—a deep belief in justice, people power, and community care. In 1973, she began her career with CIBC, where she worked faithfully for nearly five decades until her retirement in 2022.

Alongside her professional life, Pat poured her heart into her community. For more than 40 years, she lived in Flemingdon and Thorncliffe Park, becoming a tireless activist and trusted neighbour. She was a fierce advocate for the underdog, especially on issues related to housing, women’s rights, and youth empowerment. She helped form tenants’ associations to protect renters, pushed for the expansion of co-op housing, raised awareness of violence against women, and created community programs to support the neighbourhood’s growing youth population.

Her lifelong dedication was formally recognized many times. In 2009, Pat received the Agnes Macphail Award, an annual honour that recognizes individuals in East York who embody the causes Agnes Macphail championed in her distinguished career—equity, social justice, and community service. On June 30, 2018, she was further recognized when Mayor John Tory presented her with a Key to the City on Pat Moore Drive in Thorncliffe Park. The City also permanently honoured her legacy by naming Pat Moore Drive after her—ensuring her contributions will be remembered for generations.

Pat was resilient and determined. She inspired trust, built bridges, and collaborated tirelessly to achieve common goals. A problem solver and role model, she empowered countless community members to foster dignity, growth, and positive change. She gave of herself selflessly, always placing the needs of her community before her own.

She leaves behind her cherished daughter Charlene Tricia Moore, her beloved grandchildren Jaelen and Jenaiya, her sisters Grace, Joan, and Theresa, her brother Reginald, and many more family members who will forever love and miss her fierce and generous spirit.

We are heartbroken by her loss and overwhelmed by the financial burden of funeral expenses. To give Pat the dignified send-off she deserves, we have created this GoFundMe page to help cover the costs of the funeral service and burial/cremation.

Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a meaningful difference in easing the financial strain on her family during this incredibly difficult time.

Pat’s life reminds us that one person’s courage and love can transform entire communities. Her memory will continue to inspire us to live with compassion, integrity, and revolutionary hope, just as she did.
