Honoring the life of Joseph “JJ” Hammond

And so, we will always feel you here with us JJ, our love for you is so great!
Yesterday, November 3rd, 2020, Joseph “JJ” Hammond Jr. departed from this earth, and from our lives. Born January 6th 2004, JJ was everyone’s “favorite smile”. His laugh was contagious and his curls were his trademark.
Born with severe Cerebral Palsy, JJ was what you would call “a hero without a cape”. The same goes for the exceptionally dedicated people he was surrounded by. With the help of a tenacious and passionate mother and a caring and loving family, he experienced life, laughs, parties, picnics, puppies and copious amounts of love!
JJ loved soft blankets and giggles. When I was around him I could never resist grinning back when he launched one of his megawatt smiles my way! He endured the pain of immobility, and I know deep down he understood that he was different. And yet, that didn’t deter the laughs and the smiles and the big bright personality that only a soul like JJ could possess!
Our hearts are broken.
As one of JJ’s “aunt of the heart”, I wanted to start this GoFundMe to help his family afford funeral costs. Although children with severe cerebral palsy only have a 50% chance of surviving until the age of thirteen, and he was so well taken care of, JJ’s passing was completely unexpected. His his family needs help now.
