Early in the morning on November 1st, my dad, James “JD” Asbury, passed away peacefully in Washington, DC.
My dad was a straight shooter the kind of man who told it like it was, sometimes with a short fuse, but always with a big heart. He was the first to lend a hand, give advice, or offer you the shirt off his back, even if it was the only one he had.
He loved being outdoors and staying busy. Whether he was cooking up crabs he’d caught over the weekend, fixing up his latest vehicle, or out fishing and hunting, my dad always found peace in the simple things. He could build or fix just about anything, and he was happiest when he was outside, surrounded by nature.
He’s survived by his daughters Amber, Janet, and Son's Chris and Scott, along with five grandchildren. He also leaves behind his mother Janet, and brothers Brian and Billy.
My dad was loved by everyone who really knew him a man of few words, but full of heart. He’ll be deeply missed by everyone who had the chance to call him family or friend.
I’m starting this GoFundMe to help our family with the costs of my dad’s funeral and memorial services as we come together to celebrate his life.
Your kindness, donations, and shared memories mean more than you know. Thank you for helping us give JD the farewell he deserves and for keeping his memory alive through your love and support.
