Honoring the Life of Brad Berens — Support for End-of-Life and Funeral Expenses

Our beloved father, Brad Berens, was born on June 1, 1951, and in the early morning hours of November 12th, 2025, he passed away peacefully in his sleep at home, surrounded by family.

Brad leaves behind his four children — Robert Bradley Berens, Aja Elena Berens, Taro Payman Berens, and Jiro Stephen Berens; two grandchildren — Ava Gray Berens and Hester Elizabeth Berens; and his daughter-in-law, Natalie Rose Gates-Berens, the mother of Hester and wife of his eldest son, Robert. He is also survived by his older sister Michelle Berens-Rowland, her husband Steve Rowland, and their two children, Brad’s niece and nephew, Devon and Chris Rowland.

He now joins his parents and older brother on the other side, along with the many animals he loved so deeply throughout his life.

Our father was truly an exceptional man — an inspiration to many and a tireless advocate for those in need. Throughout his lifelong career as a social activist, he dedicated himself to serving others in countless ways, offering support and compassion to seniors, women and children, survivors of domestic violence, immigrants, refugees, the homeless, and anyone without a voice. Brad cared with his whole heart, and his work left a lasting impact on his community and all who knew him.

But above all, Brad loved his children more than anything in this world. He often said that we were his greatest legacy, the thing he was most proud of. He never held back his honesty, his passion, or his affection — if he loved you, you never had to wonder. That openness, that fierceness of love, is one of the gifts we cherish most.

Our dad lived a remarkable life, full of purpose, compassion, humor, and heart. We want to honor him properly and celebrate his life with the community that meant so much to him. Unfortunately, the sudden onset of illness and unexpected financial challenges left him without end-of-life arrangements or resources for cremation and a service.

We are asking for support to help cover end-of-life expenses, a celebration of life, and the remaining responsibilities that have fallen to Robert and Aja as they navigate settling the estate — all while helping guide two young teenage boys into the next chapter of their lives.

Any contribution, no matter the amount, would mean so much to us during this difficult time. Your support will help us honor Brad in the way he deserves and ease the burden on our family as we grieve, remember, and celebrate the incredible man he was.

Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and love.
