Hello Beloved People, my name is Quashawn Wilbourn, and I am the brother to my mother's first child, Quashei. This hurts so much and is hard to write, but I'll write to the best of my ability to reach out to the world at this sudden moment. One thing about my sister was that she is the best sister ever, in so many ways. We were always on each other, like one parented the other, and of course I always acted like I was older. I could never get enough of her love.
Such a bright star she is, she was (and is) loved by everyone and made an impact in the lives of everyone she encountered. Her angelic, beautiful smile and presence lit up the whole world, and she was such a pure soul. Her aura spoke volumes, and if you knew her, you knew the strength of what it really means to be uniquely, authentically yourself. For she is all that and more.
I’m reaching out for support to help our family give my sister, Quashei, the beautiful and peaceful farewell she deserves. This unexpected tragedy has placed a heavy emotional and financial burden on us. My mother, Heather Martin, is heartbroken and wants to honor Quashei with a meaningful service filled with reflections, music, photos, videos, and a true celebration of her life.
Quashei was an inspiration to so many—especially her nieces and nephew, Ma’saii, Mai'ella, and Ares, who adored their “Auntie Shei Shei.” She shared an unbreakable bond with the siblings she grew up alongside: Michael Gilliard Jr., MyQuiel Gilliard, Myyckhi Martin-Gilliard, and myself, Quashawn Wilbourn. She fought courageously from February 4th until February 10th, when her heart took its final beat.
Quashei has transitioned to be one with the Creator at age 30, after suffering corrosive burns to the throat lining and losing sustainable oxygen to her brain. The possibility of very unnatural causes are under investigation.
She deserves so much more of the best life has to offer and she will be deeply, tremendously missed and celebrated.
We have come together to raise funds for my beautiful, spirited sister, Quashei Wilbourn..
Any support, big or small, will help us honor her life with dignity, love, and the special remembrance she truly deserves...
We are raising funds for a funeral service, Celebration of Life, and Cremation, as well as hospital bills and legal fees, as the family is low on funds, with such sudden notice. Continue to keep Quashei and the family in your hearts and minds with ultimate love, care, abundance, kindness, and celebration, for she has arrived Home.
Energy cannot die. Neither will she.
Our little Butterfly.
