Honoring the Life & Legacy of LaJuan Brent Harris

On June 9, 2025, our family experienced an unimaginable loss. LaJuan Brent Harris—son, brother, friend, and most importantly, father of six beautiful children—passed away by suicide. His life was filled with both light and struggle. He was a man of deep compassion and quiet generosity, who spent his final years giving back to his community in powerful, often unseen ways. Whether he was mentoring young men, helping someone fix a computer, or showing up with a listening ear, LaJuan made an impact.

But behind his giving spirit was a lifelong battle with internal pain. For years, he fought demons that many never saw. And though he fought long and hard, that battle became too heavy. On a day that began like any other, he gave up the fight.

Suicide among Black men is heartbreakingly common, yet rarely discussed. It’s a silent epidemic rooted in stigma, generational trauma, and the pressure to appear strong even while unraveling.
