Honoring the Life & Legacy of James Terry
Donation protected
On August 10th, 2025, our beloved husband, father, and friend, James Terry—lovingly known as “JT”—passed away after courageously battling cancer for six years. He leaves behind his devoted wife, Karla, and two sons, Casey and Austin Terry.
Born in Spearsville, Louisiana, James was one of twelve siblings. From a young age, he loved basketball and baseball, and his hard work earned him a full scholarship to Grambling State University, where he proudly represented the Tigers. James later went on to earn his Master’s degree from North Park University in Chicago, an achievement he carried with great pride. His journey through education reflected his discipline, perseverance, and love for continuous growth—qualities that defined the way he lived his life.
James was a man of strength and integrity. Even during his illness, he inspired others with his positivity and faith. He loved being active—whether biking, refereeing, or working out—and was a lifelong Chicago Bears fan, never missing a game and always cheering his team on with passion.
In his later years, James and Karla relocated to Arizona to enjoy his retirement, surrounded by sunshine, peace, and the closeness of family. He looked forward to this chapter of life with gratitude, eager to spend more time with his loved ones. Though his passing leaves an immeasurable void, his spirit lives on in the many lives he touched.
This GoFundMe was created to honor James’ life and surround his family with love during this difficult time. Your support will give them the strength and space to grieve while cherishing the memories and legacy he leaves behind.
We humbly ask for your support—whether through a donation, sharing this fundraiser, or keeping the Terry family in your thoughts and prayers. Every gesture of kindness brings comfort and makes a difference.
A memorial service to honor James’ life will take place on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, at Gilbert Memorial Park (2100 E. Queen Creek Rd., Gilbert, AZ 85297).
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for showing love and compassion during this time. Your generosity and support mean more than words can express.
