It is with profound and deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Steve Day at the young age of 61. As we mourn the loss of our beloved father and family member, we remember a gentle and creative soul who brought light into the lives of those he fortunately surrounded.
While we absorb the shock of Steve’s untimely passing, we have launched a fundraiser to help our family cover the cost of funeral expenses. As you can imagine, our family was unprepared for this devastating loss and is struggling to find funding to appropriately honor Steve’s life and memory.
It is with a humble heart that we are reaching out to the community, and to those who personally knew Steve, to ask for help during this difficult time. We are requesting donations to cover the costs of cremation services and a memorial celebration.
Steve Daye was born in Greensboro, North Carolina, and is the son of Hezekiah and Ruby Day. Following high school, he attended Duke University where he studied Sports Marketing and Management. After returning to Greensboro, Steve was a dedicated employee at Replacements LTD where he worked as a crystal restoration technician, for over 30 years.
Outside of his career, Steve was an avid music enthusiast and an incredibly brilliant musician himself; he often wrote and recorded pop-funk and rock ballads while playing original compositions on his electric guitar. He was a monumental fan of the artist Prince, enjoyed comic books and movies, and was a talented martial artist.
Steve is survived by his brother Claudius “Dino” Daye (Priscilla Daye) and his only child — daughter, Natasha Simmons (Denell Simmons)— as well as his four grandchildren: Eric, Dylen, Alex and Kyleigh.
It would mean so much if you could share Steve’s funeral fundraiser with others who knew him. Thank you for your time and consideration.
~ Natasha Simmons
