On May 7, 2026, we said goodbye to Melvin Lee Johnson—a devoted husband, veteran, and faithful servant. What began as a fall on February 8, 2026, the morning before Super Bowl Sunday, escalated into a grueling three-month medical battle involving multiple strokes, cardiac arrests, and organ failure. Despite his strength and the tireless care he received, Melvin passed away peacefully at age 78.
Melvin was a proud U.S. Army veteran and a competitive bowler, but he was best known for his voice. As a longtime song leader, his ministry was defined by music and worship. Even in his final days, he attempted to sing along with his family, a testament to his enduring spirit.
The toll of repeated hospitalizations, dialysis, surgeries, and specialized care has left our family with significant unforeseen medical and end-of-life expenses. Any funds exceeding our needs will support faith-centered community outreach in Melvin’s honor. We humbly thank you for your prayers and contributions during this painful time.
With gratitude,
The Johnson Family
