Hello everyone. It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that our community elder, Denise Oliver Velez, is in rapid decline with the return of her brain tumor. We are asking for community support in this time to help us keep her comfortable during her final days, cover funeral costs, and assist her disabled husband with his transition into the next stage of life without his wife. Many of you have known Denise as a revolutionary activist, a writer, a teacher, a priestess, and a friend; among many other titles she’s earned throughout her life. As a woman who devoted her entire being to community and justice, we are asking you to help us in giving her the farewell she deserves. We also welcome your prayers, kind words, and good memories of Denise in this difficult time.
