UPDATE: The family would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who is supporting us through this time and share our vision for the money being raised here. It is our goal to use the funds collected to offset funeral and memorial costs, provide financial support for Woom Sing's widow her name is Shin Oh Chow Tse my mother-in-law. The family is setting up an account where Mrs. Tse's financial needs can be met. Finally, the funds may be used to help with necessary safety equipment for our Chinatown community, and support charities/organizations that will humanize the Asian American experience.
Hi, my name is Michael and I am creating this GoFundMe page for my father-in-law, Woom Sing Tse. Dad was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather who deeply loved his friends and family. A dedicated family man, Woom Sing devoted his entire life to achieving the American Dream through grit, hard work, and perseverance so that his family could prosper in peace. In a tragic turn of events, dad was the victim of gun violence in Chicago's Chinatown neighborhood. On Tuesday December 7th 30 minutes past the afternoon, the incident took place across the street from an elementary school while Woom Sing was walking to pick up his daily newspaper. In one moment, Woom Sing's wife, children, and grandchildren lost his love and warmth. We are using this platform to give family, friends, and anyone impacted by this event to honor the legacy and memory of Woom Sing Tse. It is our hope that no one else will ever have to say goodbye to family in this way. Dad was a respected member of the Chinatown community and a table tennis enthusiast. All who were fortunate enough to be considered family or friend deeply miss the light he brought into each of our lives. Dad is survived by his wife Shin Oh Chow, his son William, and his daughters Susan and Carina. In addition, Woom Sing took joy in spending time with his nine grandchildren. Thank you for your support of Woom Sing's family as we celebrate his 71 years of life.
