Honoring Terry Loza: Support for Final Arrangements

This is Claudia, Terry Loza's partner for almost 40 years. We had a lot of ups and downs over the years, but we settled in Albuquerque over 20 years ago and together built a life—a home, good jobs in Behavioral Health, and of course, many animals with us. Then tragedy hit... Terry was diagnosed with Leukemia earlier this year. Along with that, the doctor informed us that the blood cancer carried a "rare" gene, TP53, which made the disease more difficult to treat. Still, we kept on trying... many chemo treatments, platelet infusions, and more. She was hospitalized 3 times since July. This last hospitalization was her last. I visited daily. On Friday, Oct 31, she suddenly became incoherent and in much pain. She was transferred to ICU at UNMH. At that point, she was on life support. She passed away at 2:55 am on Sunday, 11/2/25. My life as I knew it crumbled. It seemed so sudden as she was doing good when she was home... cooking, being with our animals (who are also grieving), and we were making plans to take a drive to Santa Fe just to get out for a while.

I am heartbroken, but this isn't about me. It's about a beautiful and caring woman who left us too soon.

So, daily life has become not only grief and tears, it's making "arrangements," for lack of a better word. The mortuary. The bank. The family... Mom, her 6 siblings, her co-workers. And our home that I am trying to figure out how to keep. I was hoping to arrange a gathering also because so many people loved her and want to honor her life.

Our bank froze our accounts because "she has a car loan and another small loan." They left me broke, literally broke... no access to funds at all.

I don't like asking others for money, never have wanted to do that. But here I am. The mortuary won't follow through on cremation, won't order death certificates, won't do anything until they get paid. I can't even follow up on her life insurance or 401K or anything until I have the death certificate. The bank won't unfreeze our account until the car is taken back (I'll do that tomorrow), and until the loan is paid off. She still owes $6,000 on the loan.

Again, I don't like asking anyone for money, but I have to.

If you can help, it would be so appreciated. If not, I understand.

Thank you for listening and God Bless.
