Honoring Terrie Marie Battley: A Loving Farewell

Hi My Name is Toriana Maria Blackwood . I Am Launching This Go Fund Me In Support Of My Mother Terrie Marie Battley. Along With My Three Year Old Daughter La’toria Marie Thomas . I am a 28 year old Armed Security Officer Living In The Bay Area. I am also the ONLY surviving child of My Mother.I Am Launching This Go Fund Me In Support Of My Mother And Sending Her Home The Best Way Possible.

My Mom was rushed to the hospital December 22nd 2024. Where she remained in the ICU at Kaiser Richmond for about two weeks. Within those two weeks my mom endured a tremendous amount of pain and was hanging on for as long as she could. She went in the hospital with the flu, that had turned into pneumonia.

and since she was already diabetic and had a very weak immune system, the disease just overcame her body. She was a very strong woman until the very end. She was surrounded by family and friends the entire time. She was also able to see her grand daughter which brought her an abundant amount of joy.

Unfortunately My Mother made her transition January 4th 2025. She was a very STRONG woman as I mentioned before. And although I’m very sad about her passing . What keep me going is to know she is in no more pain. And now we are the ones left here to suffer. She’s in a much better place and I know she will always be walking right beside me and her granddaughter who she absolutely ADORED.

My mom was a long time Diabetic. She was on dialysis for over 20 years since about 2005. She was very loving and giving person . She would give her last to a stranger. That’s just the type of person she was. She is originally from St. Louis Missouri. She made her move out to California and I was born in 1996. After that she made California her home and never looked back .

My mom was Born In St. Louis Missouri On May 27th 1965. She was an avid ANIMAL LOVER ( Dogs) To be exact. She loved picking up strays and nursing them to good health, Then setting them free. My mom was born into a family of 12. Most of her family Stayed in St Louis. While a few of them spread out to other places. With that being said this is a very difficult time for me to try and navigate. Along with the grief of me loosing my mom so sudden. I also have the real life situations I’m now left to figure out.

I have to clear out my mom’s apartment that she has been living in her entire life. By February 1 2025. I also have to find storage and get a Uhaul truck to be able to keep all my mother’s things until I’m able to find a place to take everything. I am also in charge of planning my mother’s memorial service. My mother was cremated which is what she wanted. We don’t have specific plans as to when the memorial will be. But we do have a time frame of the second or third week of February 2025.

I said all that to say , I would just like to reach out to all our loved ones, family and friends . If you knew my mom. Then you already knew what type of angelic spirit she had. And the Giver that she was to all no matter what form you came in . Even though I believe she loved dogs way more than people.

And to the ones who she didn’t get a chance to meet her. I’m sure if you did she would have left a forever lasting impression on you . She was an amazing person who taught me everything I know from my mannerisms to my resilience.

I’m asking for whatever anyone could donate to help me send me mom home in the most BEAUTIFUL way possible because that’s absolutely what she deserved. And also to help me finish tying up all the loose ends I have now been left to complete. I would like to take the time to thank everyone who reads this.
