Honoring Tayshawn: A Beloved Athlete's Farewell

Hello, my name is Bonnie Koster. I am the aunt of Tayshawn Battese. His mother is my sister, Twyla June Battese. Tayshawn was shot in an incident in the early morning hours of August 11th, 2025.

Tayshawn was a star on and off the basketball court, as well as being a fierce and powerful player on the football field. He was always helpful, and a very respectful young man who was loved by his family, and by all those friends he made who became family.

Tayshawn was a big brother, and a beloved son, nephew, uncle, cousin, grandson, great grandson, and friend. One night and senseless acts of violence claimed his life.

Our family has been receiving a huge outpour of messages and requests asking how people can help us lay one of our babies to rest. We as a family are still grieving from the loss of Tayshawns uncle, our brother, not even 3 weeks before Tayshawns untimely passing. He and his uncle Vince are back together again.

Our family is humbly requesting any donations which will go toward funeral arrangements and family needs for Tayshawns wake services and burial. Dates still to be determined overall, we expect Monday Tuesday Wednesday to be the tentative dates as of now.

Any words of encouragement are also welcome. we know not everyone is in a place to give.

Two families in our immediate area have been effected, as another young man from across the river was taken too soon in that very same incident. Rest easy to Teron Sazue and our hearts go out to their family as well.

We know tayshawn was loved by all who knew him and we thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide at this difficult time.
