She graduated from North Miami Senior High School, where she was a dedicated student-athlete, competing in both basketball and track throughout her middle and high school years. Takira went on to run track at the collegiate level at Grambling State University, later continuing her academic journey at Knox University in Illinois, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Athletics remained a central part of her life, shaping her discipline, resilience, and determination. She had a love for anime, her favorite color was blue, and she was a God-fearing woman who regularly attended women’s Bible studies. Takira cherished her family and friends deeply and made a lasting impact on everyone she met through her quiet kindness and compassion.
After losing her leg in a battle with COVID, Takira set her sights on becoming a Paralympian in track and field, refusing to let adversity define her limits. She also dreamed of traveling the world, experiencing new cultures, and connecting with people from all walks of life. From a very young age, Takira had a special love for animals, always showing care, empathy, and a gentle heart. Her compassion, strength, and faith will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
