In Loving Memory of Susan Fischer (June 13, 1970 – December 3, 2025)
Susan Fischer was a teacher in every way that mattered — in classrooms, shelters, restaurants, and everyday life. She spent over 15 years serving students, including 11 years at McKinley Middle School in Flint, where she taught eighth-grade Language Arts and quietly supported countless kids with clothes, books, food, and fierce encouragement. Before teaching, she worked as a counselor at a runaway shelter, always meeting people where help was needed most. Susan faced life with grit and humor, even through a long battle with gastrointestinal cancer, advocating not just for herself but for others navigating hardship and illness. She passed on December 3, 2025, leaving a legacy of love, resilience, and compassion that lives on through the many lives she touched.
Honoring Susan with a Green Burial
We are raising funds to provide Susan with a green burial, a natural, environmentally gentle way to lay her to rest. This means no embalming chemicals, no concrete vault, and only biodegradable materials, allowing her body to return peacefully to the earth — a reflection of how simply and generously she lived. Donations will help cover green burial services, a biodegradable casket or shroud, burial plot, and memorial costs. Any contribution is deeply appreciated. Thank you for helping us honor Susan with the dignity and peace she deserves.
