Susan M Deeds passed away on Friday, December 5th. She slipped away in her sleep peacefully surrounded by family & friends in Tucson, Arizona.

Susan was an amazing person who touched so many lives in positive ways, and who connected people everywhere she went. She went from growing up in a small town in rural Nebraska to retiring in one of biggest cities in world in Mexico, with stops in Brazil & Arizona and other places in between. Susan was an incredible mother, partner, friend, scholar, writer, teacher, mentor, activist, chef, caregiver, and Cornhusker football fan amongst many more things. Susan was also an incredibly generous, caring, intelligent and beautiful soul.

Susan's estate and family are donating the seed money to establish an archival research scholarship in her name with the America Research Network (ARENET) based in Mexico City, as well as a book/paper prize at the Rocky Mountain Council for Latin American Studies (RMCLAS). We invite you to contribute here to support her scholarship & book prize, which are housed in organizations that were so near and dear to Susan. 100% of funds raised will got to ARENET & RMCLAS and will directly benefit students and scholars of Latin American History!
