On July 3, Susan, her husband Mark, and their oldest daughter, Maddie, were involved in a serious multi-vehicle traffic collision. Susan passed away from the injuries she sustained in the crash. Mark remains hospitalized in a trauma center and is currently incapacitated. Maddie is also recovering from injuries sustained in the collision.
Their youngest daughter, Millie, has suddenly become responsible for navigating an overwhelming number of responsibilities while supporting her family. She has been traveling between hospitals, working with doctors, attorneys, insurance providers, and funeral arrangements, while preparing to obtain legal guardianship so she can manage her father’s affairs during his recovery.
As the family begins to move forward, they are facing funeral expenses, travel between hospitals, meals, household bills, and many other unexpected costs while medical, legal, insurance, and employment benefits are still being processed. If you can help, any contribution, no matter the amount, will directly support the family’s immediate needs during this difficult time. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser and keeping the family in your thoughts and prayers is greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support.
--Note from Millie and Maddie--
Mommy was the most wonderful person. She always gave everything she had to the people she loved and to anything she put her mind to. She always strove to do her best, and she put the same care and effort into helping those around her. We are so thankful for the time we got with her, even though it was cut far too short. She made us laugh every day, and she had the prettiest smile. One of our favorite things was making her laugh just as hard.
She was loving, caring, and always there for anyone who needed help. Mommy was the person you could count on. She would listen, support you, and do whatever she could to make things a little easier. Even though she was not always the biggest hug person, you always knew how much she loved you through everything she did. She showed her love by caring for people, helping them, and always being there when it mattered most.
Mommy was the hardest worker we have ever known. She was incredibly diligent, organized, and dependable. She worked tirelessly and always made sure everything she did was her best work. She took pride in what she did and gave everything her full effort. She somehow always knew how to keep everything together. She taught us how important it is to stick together, take care of each other, and always put family first.
Mommy was the center of our home. She made our house feel like home. The best part of every day was just getting to spend time with her. Our nightly TV time together was something we all looked forward to. If you missed TV time, it honestly felt like you had missed an important piece of someone's day and sometimes even felt like the end of the world. It was where we all came together, caught up, laughed, and just enjoyed being together.
There are little pieces of her everywhere. Millie is taking care of Mommy's best friend and baby, Marlowe, and he misses her just as much as we do. Marlowe was so much more than a cat to Mommy. He was her companion, her little shadow, and her family. When Mommy worked from home, Marlowe was always right there with her. She would always say that he worked with her because he was her little coworker. Everyone at work knew Marlowe because he would make appearances during her work calls, and she loved sharing him with everyone.
Mommy had the biggest personality and a style that was completely her own. She loved her red lipstick, classic black and white outfits, cat eye glasses, and her overalls, which became known as her happy clothes. She loved cats, aliens, the paranormal, spooky movies, the Haunted Mansion, skulls, black and white polka dots, metal music, and somehow One Direction too. She loved the things that brought her joy and never stopped being herself.
She was funny, warm, caring, and impossible to forget. More than anything, Mommy was our best friend. She was the rock of our family, the person we all went to, and the one who made everything feel okay. Hanging out with her was the highlight of our day.
Life will never be the same without her, and we miss our Mommy more than words could ever say.
As we try to navigate life without her, we are asking for help with the unexpected expenses that come with such a sudden loss. Any amount, no matter how small, means the world to our family. If you are not able to donate, sharing this fundraiser or simply keeping our family in your thoughts is something we will always be grateful for.
Thank you for loving our Mommy and for helping us honor the incredible person she was.
