On behalf of Jasmine Dodson-Schmanek , we're incredibly heartbroken to announce the passing of her husband, Steven Schmanek. Jazz has always gone above and beyond to help her friends, and now she needs our help.

She hopes to transfer Steve to PA to hold an in person viewing in Berks County, be cremated there, and have his remains brought back to their shared home in California.

I can't believe I'm writing these words...It is with the deepest heartbreak I am tasked with sharing the saddest news of my life. My husband, Steven Schmanek suddenly and unexpectedly passed away this past Sunday evening. It goes without saying this is a loss that has shaken the foundation of my world. Steve has been the greatest gift of my life. Words cannot capture the shock and the deep sorrow that fills my heart and soul and shakes me to my core. There are no answers or explanations for this tragedy. No justification that life could be so brief for such a brilliant mind and loving heart as my husband. Steve will always be in my heart and on my mind, always, every day as long as I live. I am so grateful for the life that we built and shared together. Steve poured all of his time, energy, and so much love in our life together and our life together is my greatest treasure. No one ever made me laugh like Steve, he was the funniest person I've ever known. I am so thankful to have found each other in this world and to share so much happiness with my true love and perfect partner. I cannot put into words how much the love and wishes being sent by friends and family have brought me comfort and strength during this time. I may not be able to respond to everyone right away right now because I am a little overwhelmed with all of the arrangements, but please know your messages and the love you are sending means the world to me. Thank you to all of you that have known and loved Steve and done so much to fill our lives with joy and happiness and friendship. We were just so so happy, and he is gone much too soon.

To add to everything else, their cat Jynx, is experiencing health issues that are adding up by the day.

Anything to help Jazz respect Steve's final wishes, help Jynx, and her process of starting fresh.

Services are being planned and we will update with any information ASAP.

Funds will go towards air & ground body transportation, funeral services, and body & remains preparation. Anything additional will be used to cover the growing vet bills for their cat, Jynx.
