Honoring Stan's Legacy - Father, Grandpa, Island-Wide Friend
Donation protected
Hello Friends and Family,
I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to share an untimely passing in a family that was very hanai to me. Losing one parent is tough, but losing both is unimaginable. Six years ago, Tyler Toyama lost his mother on April 7th, 2019. Commemorating his mother’s heavenly birthday, days later this year, April 10th, 2025, Tyler also laid his father, Stanley Toyama, to rest. Uncle Stan leaves behind his beloved son and daughter, Tyler, 27, and Kari-Ann "Kari", 37, and three grandchildren, Marcus, 18, Micah, 16, and Mayczen, 2 years old.
Uncle Stan worked for Oahu’s TheBus public transit service for 18.5 years before being diagnosed with a heart condition that forced him to retire. He loved his job and the friends and conversations he made along the way. In our childhood years, Kari and I would ride laps around the island, talking to her dad, and he never minded being bothered on his routes. He was a caring and active grandfather to his grandkids, who will especially miss and remember all his random calls and taking them swimming at his pool. His daughter Kari, one of my oldest, dearest, and closest best friends, was the biggest daddy’s girl I know. He loved making friends and offering a helping hand wherever he could, and never expected anything in return. He opened his doors to lost teens and anyone who needed a temporary roof over their heads, like me. He was very dedicated to his church at Metro Christian Church in Honolulu and loved to serve at his church in any way he could. His loss is a devastating blow not just to his family, but to all who knew and loved him.
Whether you knew Uncle Stan personally or are moved by his story, your generosity and compassion are deeply appreciated. All donations will go directly toward covering the funeral, burial, and travel expenses paid to Kari-ann Baguinon, the campaign's beneficiary. With her full support, I will help her manage the GoFundMe, funeral payments, and memorial arrangements. Please consider donating and sharing this. If you’re unable to contribute financially, keeping the family in your prayers and helping spread the word means more than you know. Kari and Tyler, my heart and prayers go out to you both. Thank you for sharing your father with us.
To all of you reading this, thank you for your support, love, and prayers during this heartbreaking time.
With sincerest gratitude,
Celeste.
