They say it's better to love and loss, then to not have loved at all.
August 17th, 1942, my proud Mexican father; Orlando "Sonny" Garcia Sr. was born in El Paso, Texas. During his life, he moved to San Francisco with his siblings and parents. While there, he met my mother, Margaret. As the story goes they got married -then later divorced - out of their marriage came; my older brother Orlando Jr., myself Antonio, and my younger brother Tito.
In July 2024, my father was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer. Which made it extremely hard for him to enjoy his favorite foods and drinks. After a year of chemo radiation, we were told he beat the cancer! GARCIA STRONG as my dad would always say. Although he was still not able to enjoy life's tasty pleasures, he was in high spirits, dancing, and watching his favorite movies again.
In July 2025, he was diagnosed with Congested Heart Failure. It was then that his his life was filled with back and forth ER visits, hospital stays, and IV drips. Thank you to my little brother, Tito and Santos, his husband, for taking care of our father through his life all the way to the end. You are appreciated more than you know.
On February 10th 2026, with his three boys and son-in-law by his side, my fathers body was able to finally rest. Orlando "Sonny" Garcia Sr., passed away in the early morning in Antioch, CA, where he spent the last 12 years of his life. My dads passing has been extremely hard mentally, emotionally, and now financially for my family and I.
In a perfect world, we would give our loved ones the best homegoing. I ask you to help in assisting us in making it my fathers perfect send off - we owe him that.
All money donated will go directly to the burial and cemetery costs. Anything you can give is appreciated and thank you for reading.
Although GoFundMe is great, my family and I would appreciate getting the money directly to avoid fees. Let's give Sonny every cent!
