Honoring Sien Neang’s Loving Memory

Hello everyone,

I don’t know where to begin. This loss was completely sudden and unexpected for our family. Finding our loved one alone and lifeless has deeply affected everyone in our household. We are still mourning the loss of our mother, and now, within just 40 days, we find ourselves planning another memorial service. This has been incredibly difficult for all of us.

My brother-in-law, Sien Neang, born on May 3, 1978, was only 47 years old. Sien came from Cambodia with his parents during the Khmer Rouge genocide and later became a U.S. citizen. He experienced things at a young age that none of his younger siblings had to endure—traumas that stayed with him quietly throughout his life.

Sien was single, never married, and had no children of his own. But to his nieces and nephews, he was more than an uncle—he loved them as if they were his own. He was generous, kind, and loving in his own quiet way. He was shy and didn’t like being in photos, but he showed his love through his actions—through his selflessness, his presence, and the way he was always there when it mattered most.

The medical examiner determined that he passed instantly from a hemorrhagic stroke. He had previously suffered a stroke in November 2019 at just 39 years old. After that, he made efforts to take care of his health and followed up with his doctors. We don’t know if the passing of his mother added to his stress—he was never one to show it. He carried his burdens quietly and never complained.

Today, we honor his life, his strength, and the quiet love he gave so freely.

We are humbly asking for any support you may be able to give as we try to provide him with a proper memorial service. No amount is too small, and every contribution is deeply appreciated. If you’re unable to donate, we completely understand—simply sharing this message would mean so much to us.

Thank you for your love, your prayers, and your support during this incredibly difficult time.

Sincerely,
Mary
