My mother, Sheneill Fitzpatrick, spent her life caring for others as a registered nurse, working in Chicago hospitals such as Cook County Hospital, the University of Chicago, Rush Medical Center, and the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, to name a few. She served in critical care units, from the ER and the Burn Unit, to the Pediatrics ICU. She was beloved by her nursing friends, and her warmth, laughter, and smile lit up every room she entered. She cherished the camaraderie of her colleagues, loved to laugh, and adored her dogs and her family.
After her passing, her nursing friends and colleagues reached out, asking for a GoFundMe so they could contribute to her funeral and memorial expenses. This fundraiser honors her legacy and dedication to caring for others, and helps cover the costs of saying goodbye.
My mother loved being a nurse and deeply cherished her nursing friends. Her nursing community was her tribe, and her colleagues were her comrades. I sincerely thank all her friends and colleagues for their kindness and for appreciating my mother. Her friends added warmth and richness to her life, and for this, I am deeply grateful. Your support means so much during this difficult time, and I am grateful for any contribution in her memory.
Funeral arrangements in the Chicago land area are currently being finalized. We are targeting the weekend of July 24th, and services will held on either Saturday, July 25th, or Sunday, July 26th, to allow people time to plan and attend. We will update this page with the exact date, time, and location as soon as details are confirmed.
Sheneill Fitzpatrick (BSN, MSN), 1955 - 2026.
