A Celebration of Life for Shelya A. Smith

April 10, 1953 – June 16, 2025

We are planning a celebration of life for our beloved mother, Shelya A. Smith, and in this difficult time, we welcome any contributions toward the costs of her memorial service.

My mother was a very loving woman with a big heart and open arms. She lived a life defined by compassion, strength, and grace. She never turned anyone away—from family to friends, and even strangers—because to her, everyone deserved love, dignity, and a warm meal.

She helped raise many, often becoming a second mother, auntie, or guardian angel to those who needed one. Her home was a place of peace, laughter, and endless love. She taught us what it means to care, to forgive, and to serve others with humility.

To know Shelya was to experience warmth. She carried herself with grace and humility, always putting others before herself. Whether offering a listening ear, a word of encouragement, or a home-cooked meal, she was a pillar of perfect.

As we prepare to honor her legacy, we carry with us the lessons she lived by: love deeply, give freely, and never forget where you come from. Shelya A. Smith will be missed more than words can express, but her spirit will forever live on in the lives she touched.
