My name is Yolanda, and I am asking for help on behalf of my family during an incredibly painful and unexpected time.
My brother, Sergio Garcia Villarreal, was born on May 6, 1990. He has been missing since July 2016 in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. For nearly 10 years, our family has lived with the heartbreak of not knowing what happened to him.
Sergio leaves behind four beautiful daughters and one son, who looks just like him. Not a day goes by that we don’t think about him or wish things had been different.
My brother struggled with addiction for many years. Despite everything, he was so much more than his struggles. He was sharp, charismatic, and full of life. He had a way with people. He was funny, outgoing, and unforgettable. He could turn nothing into a delicious meal, and he was an incredibly talented artist. He had so much potential and so much more life to live.
In August 2015, my mom and I traveled to Puerto Vallarta to visit him. That was the last time we ever saw him. In July 2016, we lost contact after he reached out saying he was in serious trouble and needed help. Shortly after, we never heard from him again.
Over the years, my mom searched for answers tirelessly. DNA samples were submitted in case he was ever found. We held onto hope, even after hearing painful rumors about what may have happened to him.
Recently, authorities in Mexico contacted my mom. They have found remains that are a close match to our family’s DNA. They are asking that my mom and one of Sergio’s daughters travel to Puerto Vallarta to provide additional samples and confirm if the remains are truly his.
We are not financially prepared for this sudden and urgent situation.
We are asking for help to cover:
• Travel expenses for my mom and niece to Mexico
• DNA testing and related costs
• The process of bringing Sergio home to Texas
• Funeral and burial expenses so he can be laid to rest with dignity
If these remains are truly my brother, we want to bring him home where his children and family are and finally give him the goodbye he deserves.
I want to help take this burden off my mom and be there for her and my nieces and nephew as we go through this process. More than anything, we are seeking closure, peace, and the chance to honor Sergio’s life properly.
No one deserves to be forgotten or left without a resting place. My brother deserves to come home.
Any donation, no matter how small, will help us take the next steps. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page would mean the world to us.
Thank you for your support, your prayers, and your kindness during this incredibly difficult time.
