Honoring the Life and Legacy of Senbetu Ghebrekidan

We are heartbroken to share the passing of our beloved mother and grandmother, Senbetu Ghebrekidan, who left us in the early hours of April 18, 2025, at the age of 81. Her passing followed a sudden and unexpected stroke that occurred just one week after a fall she was beginning to recover from at home. She was lovingly cared for at Hackensack Meridian Hospital's ICU before passing peacefully, surrounded by her children and grandchildren.

Senbetu was the epitome of grace, strength, and perseverance. Born in Asmara, Eritrea, she lived a full and impactful life marked by service to others, both in her professional roles and in her personal life. She was a devoted mother, a nurturing grandmother, and a steadfast friend. Her warm spirit, deep faith, and generous heart touched many. Whether she was sharing stories over coffee, crafting beautiful pieces by hand, or offering words of encouragement, Senbetu made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.

She loved simple joys—knitting, beading, sewing, attending church, and spending quality time with her community. She was a woman of quiet strength and deep spirituality, always confident, always determined. Her legacy is one of resilience, selflessness, and enduring love.

We are organizing this GoFundMe to help cover funeral and memorial expenses, as well as medical and hospital bills related to her care in her final days.
