Friends, family, and extensions thereof:
Those nuanced hours of peace, devastation, agony, and relief have culminated into the final fight for refuge and healing. Hospice has been called in to aid in the comfort and care for Selita in her transition from exhaustion and suffering to the healing arms and hands of our Savior. Selita has worked hard for as long as I can remember. When she learned of her diagnosis, she saved all of her sick days up and never took a day off unless absolutely mandatory. She planned to beat this. Selita is a mother, a young one only in her 30s, with a 16-year old daughter, Kendall, and has so much life left she should be here for. In our humility as humans, we are sometimes left with no alternative but to bow ourselves at the altar to meet the feet of Jesus and ask for His intervention. If not our will, in His. It is in these profoundly world-altering moments that her family and dear loved-ones plead for any aid in ensuring she is sent off into peace with a proper burial service to memorialize the immeasurable impact her life, her existence, and her love, has made on each of us. If there are any remaining funds, every cent and then some will go directly to her family in the best of efforts to not be left behind with the crushing burden of medical bills to continue pouring salt into an already eternal wound, heavily reminding them of her imminent departure from this world.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to all of those that have prayed, hoped, visited, brought meals, checked in, already donated, and loved Selita and her sweet family and continue to do so during the hardest moments for those that will be left with the gaping wound of emptiness in their chests for the months and years to come. Loss is a heaviness that cannot be seen, but only felt with the same immeasurable weight of love we have for that person. Because she is so deeply loved, this despair will be invisibly brutal. And it does not spare anyone.
If Selita touched your life, if her story of being a persistent, loving, hard-working mother and wife, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, sister, niece, cousin, and friend, has had any impact on you, please first pray for and with the family for painless entry into eternity for Selita Dawn Jones. For the uplifting hands of God to simultaneously comfort her family and hold her in healing while navigating what will become the very abnormal, new-normal for them. Secondly, if you are able, please consider any amount of donation possible to go toward Selita’s memorial services and residual medical expenses to remember her life, legacy, and mark on this world. We savor these precious final moments while she is still on this Earth with us, as she quietly slips into forever with our Lord.
It seems fitting that ‘restoration’ cannot be spelled without the word ‘rest’, and if anyone deserves a renewal and restoration of peace and comfort, it is Selita, as she enters into her final and most peaceful rest.
