In Loving Memory of Selena
Our family’s world changed forever on February 25, 2027. My sister Selena passed away after an aggressive and sudden battle with breast cancer. She was only 47 years old.
She was diagnosed on her 47th birthday — January 25, 2026. What should have been a day of celebration became the beginning of a fight no one was prepared for. In just a month, our brave, determined Selena fought with everything she had. And then, far too quickly, she was gone.
There are no words for the shock of losing your sister. The silence she leaves behind is heavy. But what hurts most is knowing the three people who needed her most — John, Sierra, and Brock — now have to learn how to live without her steady presence.
Sierra is just 17, still in high school. Brock is 19, in the early years of college and pursuing baseball at a competitive level. They were, and always will be, the center of Selena and John's world.
If you knew my sister, you knew her life 100% revolved around her children. She did not just cheer from the sidelines. She built the sidelines. She worked extra jobs. She quietly set aside money. She sacrificed comforts most people never see. Every dollar she earned beyond what was required went into making sure Sierra and Brock had every opportunity to chase their dreams — in school, in athletics, and in life. She was an amazing mom.
She believed in showing up. She believed in hard work. She believed her kids should never have to sit out because of money.
Now, in addition to navigating unimaginable grief, John and the kids are facing medical expenses from Selena’s rapid fight with cancer. As a two-income household, her loss is both emotional and practical.
In lieu of flowers, we are creating this fund to honor Selena in the way she would have wanted by protecting her children’s future and easing the burden on her family as they settle into their new reality.
Every dollar raised will go toward covering outstanding medical bills and ensuring Sierra and Brock can continue their education and athletic pursuits without interruption. It will help create stability at a time when everything feels uncertain.
No 17-year-old should lose her mom.
No 19-year-old should have to navigate college and competition without the person who believed in him most.
No husband should EVER have to say goodbye this soon.
While we cannot change what has happened, we can stand beside this family and help carry forward the life Selena worked so hard to build for them.
If you feel led to contribute, we are deeply grateful. If you are unable to give financially, please consider sharing this page and keeping John, Sierra, and Brock in your prayers.
Thank you for loving my sister. Thank you for standing with her family.
With gratitude,
Lindsey (and the rest of the Cole, Savage and Jacob family)
Funeral will be Friday February 27th from 2-8pm EST at Mandzuik & Son Funeral Home at 3801 18 Mile Rd in Sterling Heights, MI.
