On Thursday, February 19th, I was having dinner with my parents to celebrate my 30th birthday. The next morning, my dad was rushed to the hospital and died suddenly that afternoon. This came as a complete shock to us. He was 64 years old.
My father, Scott Fuller, was a beloved mechanic in Lexington for over 40 years. He started Fuller's Saw Shop with his dad, Bill Fuller around 1981 and later joined by my mom, Meg Fuller. You may very well have had your lawn equipment repaired by him.
After my dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in September 2025, my parents were left with looming medical bills and unable to run their Lexington based small business.
In October 2025, he suffered a stroke during a routine bronchoscopy to investigate nodes in each of his lungs. He was admitted to critical care for a week and a half, transitional care for another week, and Cardinal Hill for two weeks for rehabilitation. Although the biopsy was only completed for one lung, labs showed they were benign.
When released from the hospital he underwent 6 weeks of chemotherapy and radiation for the tumor in his esophagus, as well as physical therapy to aid in his recovery from the stroke.
After finishing his treatment in 2025, he was deemed to be in remission in January of 2026 with plans of a 6 month follow-up. His health was improving and we were in good spirits following news of the remission. Of course, this was cut short by the unexpected loss of our dear Scott, on February 20th.
We are unsure of what led to his death on Friday. Records from the ER list the cause of death as septic shock. In order to understand what happened to the father, husband, brother and uncle we all loved so much, as well as to keep options open for a malpractice claim, we are pursuing an autopsy. In addition to these costs, the inevitable closing of Fuller's Saw Shop has left my mom in an uncertain financial predicament amidst funeral costs and incoming bills.
Please consider donating to help us work through this incredibly difficult time. Every little bit helps. With your generosity we hope to cover funeral costs and bills for my mother as well as find out the truth of what happened to my dad, Scott Fuller.
