Known to many as Coach Sam, he returned directly to work duties after coaching in the Native Nationals tournament. With the risk of the Oak Ridge Fire nearing his work station, Sam was placed in a tragic situation that eventually took his young life.
Sam believed in making the world a better place through coaching the Spartans youth basketball teams. For years, he fully supported all athletes, despite the costs, he willingly gave his time, energy and effort. It was his passion and he did so without hesitation.
More importantly, Sam loved being a Dad and family man. He was a simple guy who loved the little things-holding his daughter’s hand while walking, giving high 5s to his son after his game, sharing a cup of coffee and jokes with the guys at the station, and being around family to watch sports, celebrating birthdays or reminiscing about the good ole days. Sam will be missed.
The family requests your financial support to help offset the costs for memorial service preparation at this time. All donations are appreciated. Thank you for the outpouring of love and kindness, it means a lot.
All donations will be collected and provided directly to the family to help cover funeral expenses, including mortuary fees, flowers, reception costs, and other related services. Your support will help ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time and allow the family to focus on grieving and honoring their loved one.
