Honoring Rowena McReynolds and her family

We are all still reeling from the loss of our sister / daughter / mother / aunt, Rowena McReynolds from COVID last Saturday, 1/31/21.  So many of you have asked what you can do and after much thought, we realized that if you'd like to do something, the best way to honor her and assist her children is by making a small donation to support their expenses in the coming months.

As many of you know, Row had lost her husband, Jeff, a few years ago after years of chronic and debilitating illnesses that were difficult for she, her son and 2 daughters to recover from emotionally and financially.  Yet she was coming back and was just beginning to come into her own.

* She had started a job at 60 after years off taking care of the kids and was regaining the confidence and knowledge that she was smart, capable and good at what she did.

* She had sold a big house and bought a small house for her and her two daughters to live in and had so many plans to take a fixer upper and make it shine.

* And she was the rock for her children as they are finding their own path, whether to support her son and daughter who are working and going to college or her youngest daughter who is working at a school cafeteria and grocery store and needing transportation to and from each.  Like many fierce and loving mothers, even though they are all over 20 she helped make sure they went to doctors, paid their bills, took the right classes, and had hugs or a shoulder to cry on when they needed it.

All that is what Covid took away.  It's such a big hole.  And although the kids have an extended family of grandfather, uncles, aunts and cousins to help them figure things out, it's a big road ahead.

Again - you don't have to donate anything, but rest assured anything would be appreciated - for food, rent, help with college expenses.  Anything raised will go into an account for the kids' support because at the end of the day, Row's children were her rock, her joy and what she was most proud of.

Words cannot express how heartbroken we are about Rowena's passing.  Hoping this awful disease passes over your family and you all stay strong.

Best,

Carl Buck (father), Alex Buck (brother), Carla Buck (sister), Jamie McReynolds (sister in law), Sasha, Ana & Masha (children)
