On Christmas morning, our family received devastating news that my mother, Rosetta Barker (maiden name Rosetta Long), was suffering from severe liver and kidney failure. After days of critical care and constant prayer, Rosetta peacefully passed away in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday, January, 10th, 2025 at 11:54 AM (AKST) surrounded by love.

My name is Alison Dutson, and I am Rosetta’s daughter. Through the kindness, prayers, and support of so many, I was able to travel from Arizona to Alaska to be by my mother’s side during her final days. I was able to hold her hand, read to her, and share cherished memories with her — moments that were a profound gift and that our family will treasure forever.

We are now facing the unexpected financial burden of transporting my mother from Alaska to Arizona, and then to New Mexico, where she will be laid to rest on the Navajo Reservation. Returning her to the earth on her ancestral land is deeply sacred to her Navajo culture and an important part of honoring her life, heritage, and spirit.

This fund will also help support her husband, Doug, and my siblings, Ripley (12), Harley (10), and Daniel (8), as they navigate the difficult days and adjustments ahead following this profound loss.
