My mother, Rose Maureen Lowndes, aka "Rosie," passed away on March 5, 2024. She was the love of my life and my dearest friend.
Rosie is survived by her husband of almost 39 years, Kenneth Louis Lowndes. Rosie has left behind her two children, Sierra (myself), my sibling, Jordon, also her daughter-at-heart, Sylvia. She is followed in life by her mother-like-companion and very best friend: Joyce Leeman.
COSTS:
I am facing a multitude of expenses, as this was sudden and unexpected, and my mother was not prepared for her passing. I have acted as caregiver for my parents; Rosie has suffered from many serious medical conditions (sarcoidosis autoimmune disease, congestive heart failure, COPD, anemia, thyroid disease, lung disease, oxygen dependent, respiratory disease). To assist Rosie get through her hardships with health, I have taken numerous leaves of absences from my work. Currently, Rosie’s family needs help with coverage of funeral costs, outstanding bills, assisting with re-housing her husband Kenneth, moving everything out of their rented house and sorting all of the details that come with this unexpected passing of my loved one.
As I navigate through this overwhelming time, I am taking time off work to ensure that everything is taken care of properly, including supporting my father with his serious health issues and emotional pain he grieves the loss of his life partner.
Your support during this difficult time would mean the world to us. Your donations will go directly towards covering the expenses associated with Rosie's passing, allowing us to give her the farewell she deserves and alleviate some of the financial burden during this trying time.
ROSIE MAUREEN:
My mother made friends and special connections everywhere she went. Rosie was gifted with an infinite amount of charisma and charm, resulting in a countless number of friends that will remember her with high regard.
Rosie loved to make others feel special and important, she loved Frank Sinatra, Taylor Swift, Prince, Lizzo, gardening, flowers, laughing, sharing, learning, writing, children, animals, all humans, creating, she loved to make every day a holiday, she loved to throw parties and was the life of the party, she loved to give surprises, watch scary movies, discuss art and current events, she bred and loved butterflies, loved birthdays and holidays, Frank’s red hot sauce and sunflower seeds, she was highly intelligent, sharp and witty, she knew something about everything from politics, to pop culture, historical events, upcoming protests and latest news, she was immensely thoughtful and effortlessly captivating.
Rosie was excellent at giving advice and was often sending gift boxes with handwritten notes (and sprinkles of confetti!) always sharing her larger than life stories and enormous heart.
Rosie was known for being outspoken, resilient, and vividly expressive. Her penchant for storytelling translated into her profession: creative writing. She was a published author, from screenplays, to children’s books and deeply profound poetry.
Rosie was a believer in Jesus Christ. She attended church at First Church of the Nazarene and Grace Fellowship. She volunteered at Foothills soup kitchen; she played a vital role in connecting homeless with housing assistance resources. She was part of the grassroots movement at the Riverbed, serving the unhoused with food and love. She served food 7 days a week at various points in her life, aiding disadvantaged youth, even taking them into her own home. She personally delivered clothing and meals to homeless in parks on a regular basis. Rosie did volunteer work at Foothill Unity Center for over 15 years. During her time at home, Rosie put together bouquets of flowers, paired with handwritten letters to the house-bound, to those with illnesses, and to really anyone lucky to know her. She was a foster parent, active in her community and the most loving person most of us have ever known. She was a gift.
She warmed our hearts with her love and brightened our days with her magnetic attitude.
