It is with broken hearts that we share the devastating loss of our beloved Rosa Ybarra, our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, foster mother, sister, and the heart of our family.
On September 3, 2026, around 5:30 p.m., Rosa was tragically killed at her workplace along with her coworker. She was simply going to work and doing what she had always done—working hard to provide for and care for the people she loved.
The Houston Police Department has confirmed that a suspect is in custody and has been charged with capital murder. Our family is devastated and continues to seek justice for Rosa as we try to navigate this unimaginable loss.
Rosa was truly one of the most loving and caring people you could ever meet. She had the biggest heart and was always there for her family. If you knew Rosa, you probably remember her beautiful red hair and her signature red lipstick. She had a presence that was impossible to forget. ❤️
Rosa was a longtime resident of the Oak Forest neighborhood and was proud to call the community home. She also attended Waltrip High School, graduating in 1977. She touched the lives of so many people throughout the years, and we hope everyone who knew her will remember the kindness, love, and joy she brought into their lives.
We are asking for your help to support Rosa’s foster son and her son with disabilities, who are now facing life without the person who cared for and supported them. We are also raising funds to help with funeral and memorial expenses during this heartbreaking time.
