Ronald J. Lucero was truly everything in one: an amazing father, husband, grandpa, friend, and neighbor. He meant so much to everyone who knew him, and his presence filled every room with love, laughter, and strength.

He shared a deep, beautiful love with his wife, Yvonne, his “Bugzy.” They were best friends and shared a life full of love, family, and memories that will stay with us forever.

He was the best grandpa to his grandbabies and showed up for them in every way he could. He loved school drop-offs and pick-ups, Saturday morning visits, and bringing his homemade green chile breakfast burritos that everyone looked forward to. He never missed a football game for his grandson Jeremiah, always cheering him on. Even while he was in hospice, he was still ready on FaceTime to support his “Tank.”

He was a fisherman, cook, DJ, and an outdoorsman at heart. He loved being outside, working on the lawn, being a little handyman, feeling the sun on his skin, and spending time with family. He had a huge heart and was always trying to help others, even when he didn’t have much to give. He never wanted anyone to know how sick he really was; he stayed strong for everyone around him.

In December, he was diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer and immediately began chemotherapy. He fought with everything he had, determined to have more time with his family and friends. He was brave through every step of it, never wanting us to see his pain. Over time, the treatment took a toll on his body, and he eventually transitioned to hospice care so he could spend his remaining time surrounded by family.

On April 15th at 1:03 am, he went home to be with the Lord. He passed peacefully, not in pain, laying beside the love of his life and surrounded by his beautiful family.

We truly believe he won his battle in the way he lived it: with strength, love, and never giving up, even until his last breath when he heard us crying for him.

We are raising money to help cover his funeral and memorial services so we can give him the goodbye he deserves and lay him to rest.

Anything helps, even just sharing this means everything to our family. Thank you for loving him and supporting us during this time.
