Honoring Roldan Del Fierro: Support His Memorial
Donation protected
My father, Roldan Del Fierro, tragically lost his life on December 14th, 2024. He was found unconscious at work in the break room, and despite heroic efforts from his beloved coworkers, EMS, and the medical team at Sharp Chula Vista, my father was unable to be resuscitated. Although my father was private and not one to boast, this tragedy has gifted me the ability to hear and see how admired my father was by his peers and loved ones.
My father was giving to a fault, always willing to help another person even if it meant taking away from himself. He was a jokester (I saw every comedy movie in theaters as a kid because of him) and a big fan of food (the number of times he dragged us to Hometown Buffet as kids is something I will never forget). He was not one for verbal expressions; however, he always found ways to show me and my siblings he loved us—filling our gas tank in our car, buying us a random phone charger or mount, bringing endless snacks and treats. And he truly loved his grandchildren. Every time my father saw my son, he would come with ice cream and toy cars, SO. MANY. CARS. It brought me great joy to finally see him get to share his love for cars with my son, who soaked it all up (he currently has a vast collection that he will get to cherish forever). And even though age and medical difficulties slowed him down, he found ways to connect with his grandchildren, such as buying an electric scooter to be able to "keep up" with them.
Speaking of cars, I am beginning to realize what a true legend my father was in the car industry. My father won several recognitions nationwide for his salesmanship in car sales. He was well known not just in his car dealership but throughout many, even outside of San Diego. I also got the opportunity to hear more personal stories of how he mentored and supported those around him at work: "I've heard about your dad since I was a kid and now I got to work with him," "He was always so friendly," "No one really saw him in a bad mood," "Everyone knew Dan." Amongst all the pain we have all felt in these last couple of days, hearing his legacy and finding ways his life touched others has been a solace during this difficult storm.
This GoFundMe was created solely for the purpose of giving my father the service he deserves. The wake and memorial service date is scheduled to take place on 12/28/2024 at Featheringill Mortuary. Please reach out to me if you haven't already and wish to attend!
