I'm Damian , and we love the Kampenout family. They are our friends, neighbors, and professional peers. On Friday, November 28th, their 2-year-old daughter, Robin, fell into the icy waters of a creek in Heber, Utah.
Despite the heroic efforts of her family, emergency medical, life-flight team and the Primary Children's Hospital staff, she passed away 24 hours later, surrounded by loved ones.
As we surround their family with our love, numerous generous individuals have come out of the woodwork offering words of comfort and support, while many, in the midst of this unfathomable tragedy are wondering, "What can I do."
Robin's funeral expenses have been covered by her Grandfather, and they have already received so many gifts. But as the medical bills haven't all come in yet, they are likely to far exceed their out-of-pocket maximum. Together we can do something to help. Willem has graciously allowed us to ask for help.
But in true Kampenhout fashion, they hope that this tragedy can possibly offer something more, and leave a positive mark on the world. The Kampenhouts have been a family that has given more often than they have received. With an abiding faith in Jesus Christ, they know that they will see Robin again, and be together as a family. But in this hour of pain, we can do something to come together and lift them up.
The Robin is a sign of hope for many, and often a symbol of loved ones lost. The Saying "When Robins appear, loved ones are near" has become a popular saying. The Kampenhouts live in a neighborhood with a nature path, populated by dozens of natural wildlife and bird, and any money raised that exceeds their medical expenses would be put towards a memorial bench, and a place to watch for robins along the path. This spot sits near where these family photos were taken.
The Kampenhouts have had more than their share of challenges, more than they deserve and more than any of us can be called on to bare. But they have done so with grace and faith, often comforting us in their own hour of pain. Their family has had other medical expenses and challenges and we would not begrudge them one bit if they were to save any extra funds towards future needs for their children.
