Roberto Cobian Sr., an extraordinary craftsman and artist, passed away in late January 2026 after a courageous 4 year battle with lung cancer. He was a caring husband to Maria, his wife of 46 years. He was also a devoted father to his children: Mario, Leticia, and especially Roberto Jr., who has been wheelchair-bound since suffering a stroke in 2019. Roberto Sr. dedicated himself to caring for his son, doing everything in his power to help him recover essential motor skills, giving him strength and motivation.
Roberto Sr. was also a loving grandfather of 6. They enjoyed gathering at his home to watch the Lakers and the Dodgers. Roberto loved sports. In his younger years, he was an avid soccer player, so sports was always on TV. His entire family, including his siblings and countless nieces & nephews miss his generous spirit, his witty humor, and his delicious Carne Asada. He was a grill master!
But what we will all miss most is his friendship and heart of gold. He never denied anyone in need, food, drink, money, even the couch for the night. His door was always open and he was always ready to listen and offer advice.
I would love to show our appreciation for this good man, who was a big part of our community and industry, with help for his family's essential expenses in their time of grief. All funds will go to his wife, to continuing care for Roberto Jr. Any contribution amount will make a meaningful difference for this family. Please also consider sharing this fundraiser with others. Thank you!
