Honoring Robert Struk: Memorial Fund
Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share the passing of Robert Struk, lovingly known as Bob, on April 21, 2025. He left us due to heart complications, shortly after a beautiful Easter weekend spent surrounded by his immediate family.
In response to the generous outpouring of love and support, we’ve created this fund in his memory. While there will be no formal funeral, your contributions will help us honor Bob through a celebration of life and to assist with burial arrangements. In lieu of flowers, we welcome your support in helping us give him the farewell he preferred.
Bob was born in 1950 to Steven and Jean Struk and grew up in Toronto, Canada, alongside his younger brother Laurie. As a boy, he was captivated by comic books and science experiments—a spark of curiosity that never left him. His deep faith and love for service led him on a mission to Sacramento, California, a place that remained close to his heart. He later pursued studies in physics and engineering at the University of Toronto and began a rich and varied career as a research scientist and engineer.
In 1982, he married Mary Anne, and together they raised four children—Tamara, Alexander, Kassandra, and Jeremy. The family eventually relocated to Silicon Valley, where Bob’s career evolved into roles as a senior scientist, product manager, entrepreneur, and finally, educator—following in the footsteps of his own father. He remained endlessly curious and passionate about learning, science, and invention.
In his personal life, Bob found joy in the classic science fiction of his youth, and in building and repairing ham radios. On the airwaves, he was known by the call sign KX6K, chatting with friends from around the world. He had a gift for connecting with people—both near and far.
Bob’s greatest legacy, however, was the love he poured into his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose parting words each morning—“remember to be kind”—remain etched in our hearts. He also lived his faith with quiet strength and devotion, serving for many years in the Oakland temple and in numerous church callings. Through it all, he radiated a steadfast love for the Lord, which he shared generously with family and community alike.
Bob is survived by family and friends who will gather to celebrate his life in both California and Canada. He had a big, ready smile for everyone he met and will be remembered for his warmth, faith, humor, and generosity of spirit. We take comfort in believing that somewhere, just out of sight, he’s "still alive and kicking".
