With heavy hearts and deep sorrow, we share the heartbreaking news that Roberson Jean, a bright light in the lives of so many, tragically drowned on June 18, 2025, while pursuing his studies at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Roberson was an international student from Haiti, full of warmth, determination, and kindness. He arrived in the United States in January 2022 with a dream—to pursue his education and build a better future. He began his journey at Colby Community College in Kansas, where he excelled and earned two associate degrees. His unwavering dedication led him to transfer to UMass Amherst to continue his studies.

Roberson’s life was filled with promise, purpose, and hope. He worked hard, gave generously of his spirit, and touched everyone around him with his humility and strength. His time with us was far too short, but his impact will never be forgotten.

Roberson was not alone in the U.S.—he was deeply loved by his adopted family here who supported him like their own son. But the shock of this sudden loss is now compounded by the immense financial burden on both his family in Haiti and his extended family in the U.S.

Cover funeral and memorial service expenses here in Massachusetts.

Assist with the repatriation of Roberson’s body back to Haiti so he may be laid to rest in his homeland.
