My name is Anke (known as Reggae_Girl98 on the Negril Message Board). Since my first visit in 1995, Negril has always felt like my heart’s home. That same year, Rob launched negril.com, and just a few years later, he and I met—by chance—when I needed to send an email. That simple encounter began a beautiful friendship rooted in our shared love for Jamaica.

On September 9, I received the heartbreaking call from Lisa, Rob’s partner, with the news of his passing. After bravely overcoming cancer in 2022, his health battles continued, and sadly, they took him from us too soon. Rob’s absence is deeply felt—not only by us, but also by his beloved pets: Ginger the cat, and his dogs Kocky and Knosie, who were his constant companions.

In the midst of her grief, Lisa is working to bring Rob’s pets home with her to Canada, ensuring they remain safe, cared for, and surrounded by love. This is where we can all step in. Though Lisa is modest and hesitant about accepting financial help, I know many of us would want to honor Rob by helping her through this difficult time.

The journey ahead is not simple: multiple vet visits and vaccinations in Negril, Montego Bay, and Kingston, weeks of preparations, and eventually, the costs of transporting the pets to Canada. Lisa cannot carry this alone. By coming together, we can give Rob’s pets the future he would have wanted for them.

Every contribution makes a difference. Surplus funds will be donated to the Negril Spay & Neuter Clinic, who have already been an incredible support. The fundraiser is set up in EUR (as I live in Belgium), but I will ensure that all funds reach Lisa in Jamaica and/or Canada. Updates will be shared here and on the Negril Message Board .

Let’s honor Rob’s memory in a way that truly reflects his love and kindness—by keeping Ginger, Kocky, and Knosie safe and loved.
