I'm Richard Galbraith Jr., and I'm raising funds to pay for my father's funeral costs.

Richard Galbraith Senior passed away early in the morning on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, due to kidney and heart failure, and wasn't able to receive the necessary surgery he desperately needed to save his life because of his poor health.

All just weeks before his birthday..

The doctor told me he wouldn't make it off the operating table.

He had only 10% use of his heart, extremely low blood pressure, and needed three separate medications to bring his BP back up to a minimum level.

He lacked the ability to flush fluids out of his system and had been backed up before even getting to the hospital.

Multiple medical staff informed me that any efforts to save his life would just be prolonging the inevitable, but that it was for me to decide.

My dad was mostly bedridden for months, though at times he would feel better for around a week, and a month prior, he was told he merely had a UTI, which is believed now to not be the case in actuality.

Unable to eat or drink in the week or more leading up to his hospital stay, my father, who also had cancer, couldn't keep down his medicine. He was in a very dire situation and seemingly worried about the copay and whether insurance would cover enough of the costs and wouldn't be too much of a burden, so he put that before his health for our sake.

My father was so weak when he was driven to the hospital that he couldn't walk or even stand on his own. And it only got more frightening once he made it to the first hospital.

When he was moved to the second hospital...

My father, in a matter of days, went from speaking and using his cell phone with difficulty, then to needing to be put on dialysis, then within an hour was on a ventilator, getting chest compressions, and then ultimately passing away while I was on the phone with medical staff, the very night I had spent the day visiting, an hour and a half away, at his hospital.

The GoFundMe was originally meant to help support his surgery. Now it's here to find support for a man's family that had more connections and friends from his lifetime of photography and touring with bands in the rock business than anyone I've ever met.

I'm asking these kind souls who knew and loved him like I did to reach out and give my compassionate and loving father a send-off that's worthy of his legacy and that lives up to the impact he's had on so many lives.

Thank you.
