Hello, my name is Adrian Estrella. At around 6am Tuesday, June 10th, I answered the phone to my sister-in-law Sonia, crying uncontrollably and completely heartbroken. She told me that my brother Richard had been taken to the ER by ambulance, but shortly after arriving, he died. To say that I’m in a state of sadness and grief would be an understatement. To anyone who has ever lost a loved one, I think what I’m struggling with most is not being able to share the simplest parts of my day with him. I could always count on my brother to make my day better in only ways he could do. Richard was a charismatic, fun-loving person who never took anything too seriously. He was a gifted athlete, excelling in football where he’d become a champion at multiple levels. A captain of almost every team he played for, Richard knew how to bring the best out of people. At the age of 43, Richard has left us far too soon. He leaves behind many who love him, but none more important than his 2 children, Isabella and Sebastian.
