We are the children of Richard Borquez. Our father passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 11th, he was 67. Our father’s greatest love was sharing inspirational, faith based memes on Facebook. It was what he enjoying doing the most. He wanted to help others have a great start to their day. We are working to complete his final wishes. Some back story, he has been disabled for over 30 years and only had Social Security income. Our father has no assets, so we are working to gather funds to have him cremated and hold a small service. We would also like to add our disappointment with the Lancaster fire department and AMR who did not provide immediate care for our father when they were called. My sister waved frantically as they arrived, but no urgency was taken as they slowly turned around and parked. Countless minutes passed before they took his vitals for unknown reasons. My sister pleaded with them to check him because he was in full cardiac arrest. Instead the emergency personnel joked with each other about how they were going to move him. Mind you, my sister had him at the front door in a wheel chair ready to go before he slumped over. Once they did check him they did realize their mistake and started Cher chest compressions as he was loaded into the ambulance. Too much time had passed and he was beyond help before he reached the hospital. The hospital did try to regain a heartbeat, but it was too late.

We believe assumptions were made that he was just sick and those assumptions cost us a chance to have our father saved. We do not wish this to happen to anyone else and will be filing a formal complaint for the lack dignity our father was shown. Minutes count and vitals should always be checked immediately when the patient suddenly becomes unresponsive. We pray for everyone involved and never want something like this to happen again. We love and miss our father greatly.
