We are Hannah West, Sharon Beecroft, and Diana West—longtime friends of the Bobo family. On the morning of June 21, we received the heartbreaking news of the sudden and unexpected passing of Richard Bobo—beloved husband to Lois, devoted father of four, adoring grandfather to three, cherished brother to 11 siblings, and uncle to many wonderful souls.

Richard’s remarkable life came to a close far too soon. Though his absence leaves a deep and painful void, his light continues to shine in the countless lives he touched.

A Life of Passion, Wonder, Cheer, and Generous Service

Richard lived with wholehearted devotion to the people and passions he loved. Music—especially the viola—was the heartbeat of his life, shared as a performer, teacher, and lifelong player. He met Lois, the love of his life, in high school choir, and together they built a family rooted in harmony, humor, service, and deep love.

A stargazer and photographer, Richard found wonder and humor in everyday moments and taught others to do the same. As a principal, professor, and friend, he made others feel seen, valued, and uplifted. Above all, he served his family with steady love and quiet strength. His legacy is one of joy, curiosity, and generous presence.

As they navigate this profound loss, the Bobo family also faces the practical and emotional weight of unexpected expenses—medical costs, Celebration of Life arrangements, and the longer-term financial impact of losing such a central figure in their lives.
