My name is Evelyne Kim-Marmolejo, and this GoFundMe campaign is for my dear brother in Christ, Rey Melendez. He is a mentor and friend who has created a community of Christ-centered believers working towards their own Real Estate Investment endeavors.
Yesterday, we learned that his wife passed away after battling five years of cancer. He is a faithful and devoted husband and father. As he cared for his wife, he spent the rest of his time investing in Christ-Centered Community. He has poured his heart and time into helping us grow and learn. We want to support him now during his time of loss and sorrow.
Below is our letter to our friend and mentor:
Dearest Brother Rey (aka Papa Rey)
This GoFundMe is really “Go, Fund Rey.” It’s seed money for you to invest in whatever your heart desires. For some time now, you have been our fearless, selfless, patient, gentle, Christ-centered leader and mentor. It is truly our privilege and honor to bless you in this way.
Your life is a testimony of faithfulness in the way you’ve stewarded your talents and gifts. You are an example of someone who follows Christ earnestly and with unwavering conviction. From your early childhood until now, the Lord has been with you throughout your journey, shaping you to serve in a great capacity and to help expand our Father’s Kingdom.
Our CCC community exists because of your leadership and your ability to connect people with purpose. You have invested your time in growing each of us. For so many of us, you have been a mentor, friend, servant, and brother, and your presence has helped change lives. Through your love, joy, humor, compassion, patience, gentleness, goodness, and kindness, and through the sacrifice of your time and resources, you have been the “needle and thread” that knits us together. You’ve inspired us with a vision that we have purpose, to do more, be more, and stay persistent in our endeavors. We see the “fruit of the Spirit” in you (Galatians 5:22-23).
Rey, you exemplify a true servant’s heart. You are the hands and feet of Jesus. As you’ve traveled far and wide, building and strengthening this network, you’ve given us a loving, generous, supportive, Christ-focused community, a reflection of who you are.
You also have a rare gift. You see strength in people when they can’t see it in themselves. You don’t just compliment your brothers and sisters; you call them up. You remind us of our worth, and you help us believe again, especially in seasons of uncertainty or discouragement. You move like God’s soldier on earth, without clamor or pride, but with integrity, consistency, faithfulness, steadiness, and quiet resolve.
“Papa Rey,” all the prayers you’ve spoken, all the kindness you’ve poured out, and all the hope you’ve handed to others are coming back to you now. You’ve been diligent in planting seeds. You’ve faithfully tended your garden. Now may this be a season of harvest for you to enjoy and multiply.
We love you, and we are grateful for the way you’ve served as “the lamp unto our feet and a light onto our path” (Psalm 119:105). Thank you for loving so well and for being an example to all of us.
May our Holy Father continue to bless you abundantly and forevermore!
