Two days ago, our family lost my sister, Renee, unexpectedly and far too soon. Renee suffered cardiac arrest following a complex medical situation related to her ongoing autoimmune illnesses. She had battled serious health challenges for years, including pulmonary fibrosis, and was preparing to be placed on the lung transplant list. Even through everything, she kept fighting. She was only 49 years old.
Renee was fiercely loving, protective, and loyal. She showed up for the people she cared about without hesitation. She loved deeply — especially when it came to her daughter, Viviana. Viviana is just 19 years old. Having lost her father when she was a baby, she now faces life without either parent. No young adult should have to carry that weight so early in life. Renee was also the primary caregiver for our 86-year-old father. She carried enormous responsibility — often quietly and without complaint.
Like many families navigating chronic illness, Renee did not have life insurance, retirement savings, or financial reserves in place. Her focus was surviving and caring for the people she loved. Now, we are left trying to honor her in the way she deserves while also ensuring Viviana has stability in the months ahead. We are raising funds to cover funeral and memorial expenses and provide short-term financial support and stability for Viviana.
If you knew Renee, you know how fiercely she loved and how deeply she cared for others. If she ever showed up for you, supported you, made you laugh, or stood by you — I’m asking you to help us show up for her now. Any contribution, no matter the size, makes a difference. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page would mean more than you know.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for helping us honor Renee and protect the future of her beautiful daughter.
